Our session will feature Dr. Bajar Scharaw, Counsel at Herbert Smith Freehills (Frankfurt), an esteemed international law firm and a recognized International Arbitrator based in Frankfurt.

Dr. Scharaw will share his insights and expertise regarding both the theoretical and practical dimensions of investor-state contracts, addressing the following key subjects:
Dr. Scharaw is a disputes lawyer and international arbitrator based in Frankfurt am Main specializing in international arbitration and public international law, with a particular emphasis on international investment law, investment arbitration, and business and human rights. Dr. Scharaw has extensive experience representing companies and states in investment arbitrations under international investment treaties or investor-state contracts. He also advises clients in international commercial arbitrations under all major arbitration rules and a multitude of different national laws. He is regarded as an expert on investment arbitration issues.
Recently, Dr. Scharaw has successfully defended Mongolia in an ICSID arbitration under the US-Mongolia bilateral investment treaty. He also represented Germany in investor-state arbitration proceedings before an ICSID tribunal in Washington D.C.
Dr. Scharaw is the author of the first book on “The Protection of Foreign Investments in Mongolia under Investment Treaties, Investor-State Contracts and the Mongolian Domestic Investment Law.” The book has attracted significant attention globally and has been sold with a major international publisher more than 4,000 times, including in Europe and North America.
The session will be conducted in English with consecutive Mongolian translations. It will be followed by Q&A and networking sessions with canapés and drinks. The fee for attendance is MNT 50000, which should be settled through TDB 499 218 869.
